Clinical Innovations Honors Dr. Aldo Vacca with Memorial Symposium

SALT LAKE CITY, Sept. 16, 2015- Clinical Innovations, the largest healthcare manufacturer exclusively focused on labor and delivery, will sponsor a memorial symposium to honor the legacy of obstetrician and gynecologist Dr. Aldo Vacca and bring together leaders in the field of operative vaginal delivery.

Dr. Vacca was a trailblazer in the vacuum method for operative vaginal delivery, a technology used worldwide in about 10 percent of births. He was Consultant Obstetrician at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital in Australia and an associate professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the University of Queensland. Through his work with vacuum-assisted delivery, Dr. Vacca has been credited with preventing an estimated 40,000 cases of major permanent maternal trauma in Australia alone.

The symposium is designed to carry on Dr. Vacca’s legacy of education and training in obstetrics and gynecology.  Held on Sept. 17 in the Lecture Theatre of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists in London, “Current Concepts in Operative Vaginal Delivery: A Tribute to Dr. Aldo Vacca” will feature lectures by top surgeons in the fields of obstetrics and gynecology as well as discussions on current best practices. More than 60 doctors from all over Europe and around the world are expected to attend.

Proceeds from the meeting will be used to fund a Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RANZCOG) educational grant in memory of Dr. Vacca.

“Professor Aldo Vacca’s contributions in the field of women’s health care are unparalleled. Throughout his amazing career, he helped an immeasurable number of doctors, women and babies,” said Dr. Ross McQuivey, medical director for Clinical Innovations. “Vacca’s vision was for all healthcare providers using vacuum delivery to improve patient outcomes throughout the world.  Clinical Innovations is dedicated to honoring his legacy of education and safety now and in the future.”

Clinical Innovations is the sole sponsor of the event.
